BOC Week 4: Analyze Your Job

What is the job title? Does the title explain what the job is? If not, what title would offer a better explanation?

Sales associate. Sales associates are usually responsible for product knowledge, great customer service and helping the store meet daily goals.
How does the job fit in with the rest of the company? What jobs are comparable? Is the wage/salary comparable to other jobs within the company? Within the industry? Use reference materials (library, Internet) to justify your answer.

The sales associates take care of the merchandise and model the attire for customers. They are who represents the company because they are who first comes into contact with the customer. Sales associates job positions and salaries are similar to those who are in management positions, for the managers make more money and obtain a few more responsibilities, however, they all work as a team to meet daily sales goals.
What is the chain of command? To whom does the person with this job report? Is this person responsible for monitoring the work of others? Describe the internal and external contacts of the person holding this position.


Within a casual retail store, there is a district manager whom the store manager reports to. At the store, the store manager is the highest position while overseeing his management team that usually consists of an assistant manager and 2 to 3 part time managers. These managers oversee the sales associates. 
What duties and tasks does the person holding this job perform? What are the physical requirements of the job?


Physical requirements is that you have to have a waist line of 40 or less as a male and 32 or less as a female for the simple fact that these are the largest sizes we carry and you MUST wear the denim. Logos and other images are not allowed. Prints such as stripes, floral and a few others are accepted as fashionable. Sales associates perform other tasks outside of selling. They also perform opening and closing duties such as replenishing merchandise, cleaning the store and stocking.
What tools and equipment are required for this job? Include any computer equipment.


No tools or equipment is needed for this job. Basically clean, neat clothes and shoes are the only thing you need.

Knowing some history about the brand, like who started the company and what year. Also what the most popular fits are for customers who are seeking the latest trends. Another thing that is important is knowing the difference between you and your competitors.
